Chris Charming

Early Life and Background
Family and Heritage: Chris was born to a Nigerian father of Edo descent and an Australian mother of Irish and Danish ancestry. He is the eldest of six children on his mother’s side (with three brothers and two sisters) and one of seven on his father’s side, totaling 11 siblings.

Childhood and Interests: Growing up in Sydney, Chris was extremely shy and found expression through dance, which became his primary passion. He described feeling like an outsider but found solace in movement, which shaped his early artistic identity.

Cultural Identity: His mixed ethnicity has been a point of interest, contributing to his unique appearance and informing his perspective as a Black queer artist. He has spoken about navigating his identity in both Australian and global entertainment industries.

Career Beginnings
Early Dance and Acting: Chris first acting role came at age 16 in the 2007 Australian film Razzle Dazzle: A Journey into Dance, where he played a dancing part. His dance background led to his breakout role as Oliver Lloyd in the Australian teen drama Dance Academy (2012–2013), where he showcased his skills as a dancer and actor.

MTV VJ: Lonsdale worked as a VJ for MTV Australia and New Zealand for nearly three years, gaining media experience and exposure.

Early Music: He released his first single, “One and Only,” on iTunes in 2014, marking the start of his music career.
